Project Manager - High Voltage Infrastructure (Consulting Opportunity)

Overview

This is an immediate start consulting opportunity for an experienced Project Manager to support a National Grid 400kV project focused on high voltage infrastructure. The role involves managing the civil phases of this critical infrastructure project, contributing to the development of the nation's energy network. This assignment is outside IR35.

The role requires approximately three days per week on-site, working closely with subcontractors and a range of stakeholders. Candidates with a solid background in civil engineering, experience in high voltage projects, and familiarity with NEC contracts are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage day-to-day operations during the civil phase, ensuring project milestones and deadlines are achieved.
  • Coordinate and liaise effectively with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure smooth project progression.
  • Ensure compliance with NEC contract requirements, manage contractual obligations, and mitigate associated risks.
  • Monitor project budgets, schedules, and documentation, providing updates as necessary.
  • Address and resolve site-based issues, upholding safety and quality standards at all times.
  • Support planning and scheduling activities to optimise resource and material allocation.
  • Promote health, safety, and environmental standards across the site.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience managing high voltage projects, preferably within national grid or equivalent infrastructure.
  • Strong civil engineering background relevant to large-scale construction projects.
  • Proven experience managing projects under NEC contracts.
  • Regular on-site presence, ideally averaging three days per week.
  • Experience with subcontractor management and cable works is advantageous.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Relevant professional certifications in project management or civil engineering are beneficial.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with diverse teams.
