JOB DESCRIPTION: DEPUTY COMMISSIONING MANAGER
LOCATION: 100MW POWER PLANT PROJECT
JOB SUMMARY
We are looking for a deadline-driven Deputy Commissioning Manager to support the Commissioning Manager in leading a multi-disciplinary team. You will help verify system performance and reliability, bridging the gap between construction and handover. In this role, you will act as a key figure for project excellence, focusing on design optimization, interoperability, and sustainability while directly overseeing daily field operations and team coordination.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Commissioning Planning: Assist in developing end-to-end commissioning plans, schedules, task allocations, and documentation for all phases (L1-L5/6).
- Team Leadership & Coordination: Supervise the core team of engineers and technicians on-site. Coordinate closely with vendors, subcontractors, and construction management to ensure seamless integration.
- Documentation Oversight: Manage the Turn Over Package (TOP) process. Track progress, checklists, test reports, and "punch lists" diligently.
- Technical Verification: Oversee functional performance testing (FPT) and Integrated Systems Testing (IST). Validate that all systems meet performance and reliability targets.
- Risk Mitigation: Identify technical or schedule-related risks early. Devise practical "workaround" strategies to maintain project timelines.
- Stakeholder Reporting: Liaise with clients and senior project management. Provide KPI updates on progress, quality compliance, and energy-reduction targets.
- Policy Compliance: Implement corporate project policies, procedures, and instructions within assigned mechanical work activities or applicable project-specific guidelines.
- Managerial Support: Advise the Commissioning Manager and Resident Project Manager of potential problems, work interferences, or schedule difficulties. Assist actively in resolving these issues.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience: Typically 5-10 years of experience in commissioning or project engineering, preferably within mission-critical sectors (e.g., Data Center, Pharmaceuticals, or Power Generation).
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering. Professional certifications like CCP (Certified Commissioning Professional) are highly valued.
- Technical Skills: Deep understanding of MV/LV distribution systems, HVAC, electrical distribution, BMS/SCADA systems, and reading P&IDs or blueprints.
- Software Proficiency: Expertise in project management tools like Primavera P6 or MS Project and specialized commissioning software.
- Punch List Resolution: Speed and accuracy in closing out system deficiencies found during testing.
- Handover Efficiency: Success in transitioning systems to the operations team with zero safety incidents and minimal rework.
- Schedule Adherence: Proven ability to manage the "critical path" during the intense final weeks of a project under pressure.
