Senior Transmission Project Manager

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Transmission Project Manager to support large-scale transmission and substation capital projects for a major utility client. This individual will lead projects through the full project lifecycle, from engineering and development through execution, construction, commissioning, and closeout.

The ideal candidate will have strong utility construction project management experience, exceptional communication skills, and a proven ability to manage schedules, budgets, forecasting, contractors, and cross-functional utility teams.

Requirements

• Minimum 5+ years of direct utility experience required

• Experience managing transmission and/or substation capital projects

• Strong background supporting construction-based utility environments

• Proven experience overseeing projects pre development to closeout

• Ability to communicate effectively with executive leadership, engineering teams, field crews, and contractors

• Experience managing project schedules, forecasting, funding revisions, and procurement activities

• Strong understanding of utility project lifecycle processes

• Experience managing multiple active projects simultaneously

• Knowledge of utility safety standards and construction practices

Responsibilities

• Manage transmission and substation projects ranging from approximately $100K to $3M+

• Lead projects through full lifecycle execution including engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and closeout

• Maintain and manage project schedules transitioned from development teams

• Coordinate material procurement and project logistics

• Provide monthly forecasting updates and funding revisions

• Partner closely with engineering, construction, operations, and leadership teams

• Monitor project risks, milestones, budgets, and deliverables

• Support contractor coordination and field execution activities

• Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget

• Assist with long-range planning activities spanning 1-3 years

Preferred Qualifications

• Transmission line and/or substation project experience

• Utility owner/operator experience strongly preferred

• PMP certification is a plus

• Experience with project controls, forecasting, and capital governance processes

• Experience working within regulated utility environments
