Commissioning Engineer - 400kV
Overview
This role is to commission a 400kV AIS substation, working on high-voltage circuits, transformers, harmonic filters, and protection/control systems. We value diversity and welcome all applicants.
Responsibilities
- Inspect and verify protection panels, CTs, VTs, DCBs, and AIS equipment.
- Perform wiring checks and insulation resistance tests.
- Validate control schemes and conduct earthing transformer acceptance tests.
- Execute primary and secondary testing: CT/VT checks, relay secondary injection, and protection scheme validation.
- Test BCU, AVR functions, and trip circuit supervision.
- Conduct functional and integration testing, including IEC 61850 and SCADA interface trials.
- Support commissioning and energisation activities, including relay and metering checks.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver project objectives.
Qualifications
- Experience commissioning 400kV AIS substations or similar projects.
- Strong knowledge of protection/control systems and testing methods.
- Familiarity with IEC 61850 and SCADA systems.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Relevant engineering degree or equivalent.
- Available to work on-site in scotland, starting June, 6 months rolling.
