Senior Certification Engineer (DO160G)
Overview
CMC is looking for a Regulatory Certification Engineer to join a client in the aerial imaging sector. This is a fixed‑term consultant assignment.
You will operate either as an independent freelance consultant or as an employed consultant through CMC. Your primary responsibility is to lead the DO160G certification of a new camera system designed for airborne mounting.
The ideal candidate is a self‑directing professional who can take ownership of the entire certification process - from test strategy through to final compliance documentation - with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities
- Define the DO160G test strategy, selecting relevant sections and test categories based on the camera's intended installation.
- Manage external test labs, witness test campaigns, and conduct root‑cause analysis of any failures.
- Produce a complete compliance package: test plans, qualification reports, and a DO160G compliance matrix.
- Collaborate with hardware and quality teams to align certification activities with product release timelines.
- Advise on self‑declaration vs. third‑party verification, and coordinate supplier compliance where needed.
Requirements
- 5+ years of hands‑on industry experience certifying products against RTCA/DO160G.
- Proven track record of taking at least one airborne electronic product through full DO160G certification.
- Strong working knowledge of critical DO160G sections: vibration, temperature/altitude, and EMI/EMC
- Ability to work autonomously and pragmatically
- Excellent English documentation and communication skills for technical certification reporting.
