CMC are currently looking for a Commissioning Manager

Position Overview

The Commissioning Manager will lead the commissioning activities related to Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) with a focus on ensuring accurate metering, protection systems, and smooth integration into the grid. This role interfaces with key stakeholders including EJ Electrical, Tesla, Con Edison (ConEd), and NYISO, ensuring collaborative and compliant project execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Stakeholder Interface

    • Collaborate closely with EJ Electrical on electrical system integration.
    • Coordinate with Tesla on battery pack installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
    • Work alongside Con Edison to ensure alignment with utility requirements and standards.
    • Engage with NYISO to ensure compliance with regional grid operations and reporting standards.
  • Technical Oversight

    • Verify and ensure metering accuracy and protection schemes are correctly implemented.
    • Conduct daily calculations to monitor energy consumption and discharge rates onto the grid.
    • Lead commissioning and testing of BESS assets ensuring all technical requirements are met.
  • Reporting and Meetings

    • Prepare and deliver daily reports for the Point of Delivery (POD) detailing system performance and issues.
    • Lead and participate in weekly internal meetings to review project status, challenges, and next steps.
  • Documentation and Compliance

    • Maintain accurate records of commissioning activities, test results, and technical documentation.
    • Ensure all processes adhere to industry standards, safety regulations, and organizational policies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Commissioning experience, specifically with BESS projects.
  • Ideally experience working with Tesla Battery Packs.
  • Ideally experience collaborating with Con Edison and familiarity with their standards.
  • Experience of NYISO operations and regulatory environment is strongly preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills for performing consumption and discharge calculations.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively manage multi-stakeholder interfaces.
