This monthly video provides information about new targets, upcoming projects and news from across Europe to help make it easier for you to keep up with the latest updates.

VIRTUS Data Centres

Our first story of the day is from Germany. VIRTUS Data Centres have just announced their new data centre project, VIRTUS BERLIN1.

They will be partnering with Investa, a real estate development company to develop the project.

The facility will consist of four buildings and is set to be operational in 2026.

Berlin is one of the fastest growing markets in Europe making this a great project to mark Virtus's entry into mainland Europe.

Kao Data

Over in the UK, Kao Data announced a new 40MW data centre to be built in Manchester.

The project is due to be operational in late 2025 and will be comprised of 9 data halls.

Kao have pledged that the project will be powered by 100% renewable energy and will be utilising hydrotreated vegetable oil in its generators.

Kraus Group and Peri 3D Construction

Back over in Germany, Real estate developer & investor Kraus Group, along with 3D printing construction firm Peri 3D Construction are constructing what is pledged to be the largest 3d printed data centre in Europe.

Managing partner of the Kraus Group, stated: “As an independent family business with a long tradition and a future ahead, we want to promote innovative construction methods in Heidelberg and make a positive contribution to sustainable building methods”

I’ll be interested to see how this project develops. It does make you wonder what part 3D printing will play in the future of data centre construction.

CBRE

CBRE is predicting a record take-up in the Frankfurt, London, Amsterdam, Paris, and Dublin data centre markets this year.

They suggest that there could be 480MW of take-up across these regions, more than half of which is expected in Frankfurt and London.

Despite Ireland limiting data centre developments in Dublin due to grid constraints. Developers are instead turning to alternative locations in Ireland, with the plans for 21 data centres announced in December 2022. These data centres are planned in Louth, Meath, Kildare, Kilkenny, and Wicklow

They were the top stories from the European data centre market in April, if you enjoyed the video please give it a like, comment, share or even better all 3!
