As part of the data centre debrief, we will now be featuring a company spotlight to give you an overview of some of the biggest players in the industry. This month’s spotlight features no other than Jones Engineering Group. Jones Engineering is a multi-disciplined engineering contracting company which had been founded in 1980. From the Irish civil war to COVID-19, Jones Engineering has endured through its commitment to excellent innovation and the development of talent. Their success over the past 130 years can be attributed to their ethos to its staff, many of whom have spent decades within the company. In recent accounts, Jones engineering reported a mammoth turnover of over €1 billion and €663 million in ROI. This is almost a €300 million rise from its accounts in early 2020. Very impressive. Although Jones Engineering had delivered a wide range of impactful projects, they can attribute 55% of their annual turnover to their data centre division, which has helped them become the go-to provider for data centre construction. This division consists of over 1,800 staff who together delivered over 1,550MW of data centre capacity across 19 countries globally. In 2022, Jones Engineering was acquired by U.S. company Cathexis Holdings in a deal which was reported to be worth over €1 billion. They have pledged huge investments into the company infrastructure, which paved an exciting road ahead.
