Samsung’s chip manufacturing

Our second story comes from Samsung’s chip manufacturing who have announced plans to begin mass production of 2nm semiconductors for mobile devices in 2025, with performance increases expected for the next-generation technology, which rivals with TSMC’s target o a 2nm process by 2025.

Samsung disclosed the details at the Samsung Foundry Forum, stating that mass production will initially focus on mobile applications and then expand to high-performance computing and automotive sectors in subsequent years.

Samsung claims that its 2nm process offers a 12% increase in performance, 25% improvement in power efficiency, and 5% reduction in chip area compared to its 3nm semiconductors.

Lockheed Martin have partnered with Global Foundries

The final story comes from Lockheed Martin who have partnered with Global Foundries in an effort to enhance domestic production of semiconductors.

The collaboration aims to bolster the security, reliability, and resiliency of domestic supply chains for national security systems.

Lockheed Martin seeks to produce secure solutions more efficiently, contributing to the competitiveness and national security of the United States. The partnership will also focus on exploring semiconductor innovation, secure manufacturing, and advancing chip technologies while aiming for faster and more cost-effective production.
