Our top story this month is that Terra-Gen and Mortenson have reached substantial completion of the Edwards & Sanborn Solar & Storage Project which is the largest solar & storage project in the USA. The project covers over 4,600 acres and used more than 1.9million First Solar modules. The project generates 875MWdc of solar energy and 3,287MHh of energy storage with a total interconnection capacity of 1.3GWs.

Our second story this month is that regulators in US state New Jersey has backed two offshore projects totalling 3.7GW in its latest offshore wind solicitation.

The New Jersey Board of Public Utilities announced today that it has unanimously approved bids for the 2.4GW Leading Light Wind scheme, which is being developed by Invenergy and energyRe, and the 1.3GW Attentive Energy 2 project by TotalEnergies and Corio Generation.

Recurrent Energy, a subsidiary of Canadian Solar Inc. and a global developer and owner of solar and energy storage assets, announced they have secured $160 million in project financing for its 127 MWdc Bayou Galion Solar project, located in Morehouse Parish in Northeast Louisiana. The project is currently under construction and is expected to be operational by fall 2024.

Microsoft Corporation will purchase 100 percent of the energy and renewable energy credits produced by Bayou Galion Solar to support its goal to be carbon negative by 2030. The project will significantly expand the amount of renewable energy capacity installed in Louisiana. At the end of September 2023, Louisiana had 145 MW of operating wind, solar, and energy storage capacity. Our next story is that Summit Ridge Energy & Castillo Engineering have partnered on an 82 MW community solar portfolio in Illinois, Illinois is now ranked as the 4th largest U.S. state in terms of community solar operating capacity. Collectively, Summit Ridge Energy & Castillo Engineering will have completed over 500 MW in Illinois together by the end of 2024, the majority of which are community solar projects.

Finally Primoris Services Corporation announced several awards with a combined value of approximately $1.1 billion secured by the Company’s Energy Segment. The awards included more than $700 million for engineering, procurement and construction of utility-scale solar projects secured in the fourth quarter of 2023 and a natural gas repowering project with battery energy storage valued at more than $350 million awarded in the first quarter of 2024.
