Job Description: Senior Quantity Surveyor

Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our dynamic team working on a 400kV substation project in the Suffolk area. This role requires expertise in NEC contracts and ideally experience within renewable energy, National Grid schemes, or UK transmission projects. Responsibilities

  • Manage and lead the quantity surveying activities on the 400kV substation project ensuring compliance with NEC contract requirements.
  • Prepare, evaluate, and negotiate contract variations, claims, and final accounts.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and contractors to control costs and manage financial risks.
  • Provide accurate and timely cost reports and forecasts.
  • Support procurement processes and contract administration.
  • Foster strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Champion equality, diversity, and inclusion within your team by promoting respectful communication and inclusivity.
  • Mentor and support junior quantity surveyors and colleagues.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor on NEC contract projects, preferably within the energy transmission sector.
  • Demonstrable involvement in 400kV substation projects or similar infrastructure projects in the UK.
  • Experience in renewable energy projects, National Grid schemes, or UK transmission projects is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of contract law, cost management, and procurement procedures.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to upholding diversity, equity, and inclusion principles in the workplace.
  • Relevant professional qualification in Quantity Surveying (e.g., RICS accredited) is preferred.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
