Job Description: Distribution Management System (DMS) Engineer

Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Distribution Management System (DMS) Engineer to join our team supporting a 24/7 electric control center. This role plays a critical part in maintaining and optimizing Oracle Network Management System (NMS) and Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS) used to manage real-time electric distribution operations. The ideal candidate will contribute to enhancing grid reliability, system performance, and emergency response while working collaboratively with SCADA, GIS, and OMS teams. Responsibilities

• Maintain and optimize Oracle NMS/ADMS platforms to support continuous distribution operations.
• Ensure accurate system modeling and data integrity within distribution management systems.
• Support outage management and switching operations by providing timely and effective solutions.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with SCADA, GIS, and OMS teams to enhance grid reliability and system performance.
• Lead efforts to promote system navigation, learning, and adoption among control center staff.
• Participate in emergency response activities to support grid stability during critical events.
• Continuously evaluate and recommend improvements to tools, processes, and workflows.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation for system configuration, procedures, and incident reports.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• 3?5 years of hands-on experience in power distribution systems and control center operations.
• Strong knowledge of power distribution systems and understanding of control center workflows.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting system maps and symbology.
• Experience working with Distribution Management Systems (DMS), specifically Oracle NMS/ADMS, is highly preferred.
• Ability to lead system learning initiatives and support adoption across diverse teams.
• High emotional intelligence and confidence to operate effectively within a senior control center environment.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, respectful of diverse perspectives and backgrounds.
• Commitment to safety, compliance, and continuous professional development.

Day-to-Day Activities

• Monitor and troubleshoot Oracle NMS/ADMS to ensure optimal system performance and availability.
• Collaborate with distribution operators and engineers to support real-time grid operations.
• Update and maintain system models reflecting current network topology and configurations.
• Participate in planning and executing switching operations and outage restorations.
• Conduct training sessions or workshops to enhance system use and knowledge among peers.
• Analyze system data to identify potential improvements and report findings to leadership.
• Engage in daily briefings and cross-team meetings to share insights and coordinate efforts.
• Respond promptly to emergency calls, contributing technical expertise to restore service efficiently.
