We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Civil Designer with over 5 years of experience in structural steel and fabrication drawing production. As a valued member of our team, you will play a crucial role in transforming engineering concepts into detailed shop drawings that support steel fabrication shops and field installation teams. Responsibilities

• Convert engineering concept drawings into detailed and accurate shop drawings
• Produce structural steel and fabrication drawings according to project requirements
• Support steel fabrication shops by preparing comprehensive fabrication packages
• Detail steel platforms, equipment supports, relay houses, and substation structures
• Coordinate effectively with civil and structural engineers to ensure design integrity
• Prepare installation drawings and field-ready documentation for construction teams
• Ensure all drawings comply with AISC standards and structural steel detailing practices
• Collaborate with fabricators, engineers, and design teams to facilitate smooth project delivery
• Maintain strong attention to detail to guarantee drawing accuracy and construct ability
• Support field installation or construction teams as needed

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years experience as a Civil Designer or CAD Drafter specialising in structural steel
• Proven expertise in producing structural steel and fabrication drawings
• Experience with detailing steel platforms, equipment supports, relay houses, and substation structures
• Familiarity with AISC standards and structural steel detailing practices
• Strong ability to interpret and convert engineering models and structural layouts into detailed drawings
• Exceptional communication skills to effectively collaborate across teams
• Demonstrated understanding of constructability and fabrication processes
• Bonus Qualifications:
  • Experience with utility or substation infrastructure projects
  • Knowledge of steel connection detailing
  • Experience supporting field installation or construction teams

Day-to-Day

• Review and interpret engineering concept drawings and models
• Create and update detailed fabrication and shop drawings using CAD software
• Liaise regularly with engineers, fabricators, and project managers to clarify project details
• Prepare detailed fabrication packages and ensure timely delivery to steel shops
• Quality check drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with industry standards
• Participate in design reviews and provide constructive feedback to improve project outcomes
• Support field teams by preparing installation documentation and providing technical guidance as necessary
• Continuously update knowledge of industry trends, codes, and best practices to improve design quality
