Position Overview

CMC is supporting a major pumped hydro-power scheme requiring HV Cable Engineering support at the FEED design stage.

The successful consultant will join the UK cable engineering team and support the Cable Lead in delivering 33kV cable system design and associated engineering deliverables for the project.

The engagement will initially focus on FEED design activities with a strong possibility of extension into the detailed design phase as the project progresses.

Cable Systems / Delivery Responsibilities

• Support the Cable Lead within the UK cable engineering team on the delivery of the cable workstream.
• Assist with 33kV cable system design and contribute to the preparation of engineering drawings and technical documentation.
• Support the delivery of engineering activities across the lifecycle of the project and provide technical assistance to the cable engineering team throughout the programme.
• Contribute to design coordination and engineering deliverables across the cable workstream.
• Attend client meetings when required, particularly where the Cable Lead may be unavailable.
• Provide general engineering support across the cable engineering team to ensure project milestones and design outputs are achieved.

Required Experience

• Approximately 4-6 years or more of experience working within cable engineering or power infrastructure design.
• Experience working in roles such as Cable Engineer, Cable Systems Design Engineer, or Design Engineer.
• Experience supporting HV cable system design projects.
• Familiarity with UK cable engineering standards and working to National Grid specifications.
• Ability to contribute immediately to the project without requiring significant training or onboarding.
• Capability to support detailed design activities and technical documentation within a cable engineering environment.

Desirable Skills

• Experience supporting design activities across the FEED and detailed design stages of power infrastructure projects.
• Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering teams on large infrastructure or renewable energy projects including Hydro Pumped Schemes
• Ability to attend site visits where required and support the wider engineering team with technical queries and project coordination.
